Dr Fay Williams
Clinical Psychologist
Who is your ideal client?
I enjoy working with adults and older adults who may be experiencing anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, or who have experienced difficult or traumatic events in their lives. I also specialise in working with people with long term physical health or neurological conditions, particularly functional neurological disorder. Through my personal and professional experience, I am passionate about working in a flexible and holistic way which considers the health of both the mind and the body, particularly when people may be feeling stuck and unsure of themselves and who they are.
Since my doctoral training, I have completed further study in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Yoga Therapy. I enjoy working alongside people to empower them to start to make sense of their experiences, connect with their minds and bodies in a courageous and compassionate way, learn new skills and ways of coping, and take action towards creating meaningful lives.
Fay is based in Oxfordshire, and sees clients for therapy online.
What do you enjoy about your work?
I feel privileged to work in a way which allows me to hear people’s stories, be alongside them in their experiences and share in both their difficulties and achievements. My professional values, that is, ways of working that are important and meaningful to me, include compassion, courage, authenticity, and creativity. I place the therapeutic relationship at the centre of my practice and aim to provide a warm, safe, and collaborative space where we can work together based upon your unique needs and goals.
